The life of some people is broken and nothing seems to help. They are often isolated, confused, feeling neglected and socially they feel that no one needs them. Other people ignore them, or sometimes visit only because they feel obliged to. Those who provide care, nursing, education and assistance have difficulty in reaching them and providing a meaningful offer. The theory of presence and the presence approach have been developed in the first instance to help these people. Presence is the faithful and competent attempt to embrace these socially superfluous people, to be of service to them with support, help and care and in that way to contribute a better life, in which they are seen, heard and counted. This website gives background information on the approach and the activities of the Stichting Presentie.
Afkicken Enzo is a website providing information on addiction, and care for the addicted. It is possible to remain anonymous whilst discussing addiction, what to do if you are addicted, exchange experiences and it offers a forum to provide support.
Al-Anon Family Groups form a society of friends and relatives of alcoholics. We discuss our experiences and offer each other hope and strength to solve our problems. We believe that alcoholism is a family illness and that change of attitude to life can help our recovery. Al-Anon has no connection with religions, churches or sects, politics or other institutions. They do not take part in social discussions nor do they choose one party over another. Membership is free. Al-Anon is funded by voluntary contributions from members. Al-Anon has one objective, and that is to help family and friends of alcoholics. We do that by following the Twelve Steps programme, by support to family and friends and by enhancing the understanding for the alcoholics and stimulating them.
